This article explores why the cybersecurity community urgently needs more AI pentesting certifications and how they can bridge the gap in protecting AI-driven systems.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming industries across the globe, from healthcare to finance, manufacturing, and cybersecurity. With its increasing integration into critical systems, AI presents not only vast opportunities but also significant security risks. While pentesting certifications for web applications, networks, and cloud environments are widely available, certifications specifically targeting AI pentesting are still rare.

AI as a Double-Edged Sword

AI systems are becoming integral in making complex decisions, automating processes, and driving innovation. However, as these systems gain more autonomy, they also present unique security challenges that traditional pentesting methods aren’t equipped to handle. AI models, particularly machine learning (ML) models, are vulnerable to various types of attacks, such as:

• Adversarial Attacks: Feeding AI systems manipulated data that causes them to make incorrect decisions.

• Model Inversion: Reconstructing private training data by probing AI models.
